Last post, we held a virtual ‘match’ between fiberglass and flexible piping, and fiberglass came out ahead This time we’re taking things down a notch and looking at how fiberglass products can help you meet your needs, whether you application is salt water injection, CO2 injection, geothermal, and gas lift.

High Pressure CO2 and Salt Water Injection

If these are your purposes, you’ll want to look at the Standard and API designs of our line pipe products. Because salt water especially is so corrosive, you will definitely need a pipe which is corrosion resistant. Fiberglass, due to its metal-free nature and superior smooth bore, make it much more resistant to corrosion than other types of piping. The epoxy resin in the pipes is resistant to a wide range of chemicals and can withstand extreme temperatures. The fiberglass in the pipes means they can handle higher pressures and carry heavier loads.

Geothermal and Gas Lift

If you applications have to do with geothermal or gas lift, you’ll be more interested in our integral joint/threaded and coupled downhole tubing and casing. With their unique axial and balanced hoop reinforcement, they’ll provide superior performance for your downhole needs. This tubing and casing is particularly useful for saltwater injection wells, since saltwater is corrosive. As noted above, fiberglass piping is highly corrosion-resistant, reducing your maintenance needs in such environments. In situations where steel will interfere with monitoring equipment, fiberglass provides an inert alternative. With less breakout torque, tighter thread tolerances, less thread wear, and higher thread shear, you’ll have fewer accidents and need to replace your pipes less often.
